The first beer in our new “45 Series” in our newer 45 BBL fermenters and combines a collaboration with a brewery + a record label. This one is with our friends at Von Ebert Brewing in Portland, OR + Jealous Butcher Records. The can labels and limited release vinyl feature music from Califone (Side-A) and Golden Promise/The Hackles (Side-B).
Our goal was to brew an honest homage to one of our favorite styles of beer, the German Pilsner. Jealous Butcher was step mashed with two varieties of Weyermann Pilsner malt, assertively hopped in the kettle with Perle and Hallertauer Mittelfruh, then fermented with one of the world’s most popular Lager yeast strains, Global yeast. This Pilsner is full of floral aromas, spicy noble hop character with a lingering lemon zest note, and balanced with a rustic, malty bread dough character that fades into a crisp finish. Side-A is the German Pilsner, straight up. Side-B was dry-hopped with Simcoe & Citra hops.
