Topaz Farm and Fort George come together for the second year to improve our communities and our beer. Humans probably lost something fundamental to our physical and emotional well-being when we abandoned our relationship with agriculture and started buying all our produce from box stores. The void that our supposed progress away from the land has wrought on human consciousness is, bare minimum, the reason why the Victorians were obsessed with houseplants, and depending on who you ask, the single source of all great societal ills.
We wanted to turn back the clock a little and revel in how deeply connected to the land we still are – despite all the distance we’ve put between ourselves and actual dirt. Which is why we partnered with Topaz Farm for another year of Topaz Hazy Pale Ale, Topaz Pumpkin Ale (a brand new take on a tried and true Pumpkin Ale recipe with pumpkins straight from Topaz), and a Topaz x Fort George Farm-to-Plate Brewers’ Dinner featuring Fort George Beers and Topaz produce harvested fresh for the table.
Topaz, a Hazy Pale, and Topaz Pumpkin, a Pumpkin Ale, were brewed especially for Topaz Farm, a three-generation family-owned and run farm 20 minutes outside of Portland. Topaz Farm is one of the coolest music venues in the state, hosting a summer concert series and special events, mazes, and farm-to-plate dinners all summer long. Topaz, the beer, is brewed light and refreshing with a focus on rockstar hops, Citra & Strata, a low ABV, and that characteristic dusky summer shimmer: music just beginning as sunbeams stretch over freshly cut fields.
