The 2018 Magnanimous Mug Award

November is a magnanimous time of year. The changing colors of the season light the Columbia River with an amazing display. Fort George releases their piney fall seasonal, Magnanimous IPA, brewed with hand-harvested Grand Fir tips from Earth & Sky Farm. And it’s also when the North Coast comes together to choose the noble recipient of the Magnanimous Mug.

Each year in early November, benevolent members of the community are nominated for this coveted award. The rules are simple: nominees choose a charity, raise funds for that charity, then join Fort George for the Magnanimous Mug Award on Tuesday, November 28th. More donations are gathered at the event, tallies are taken, awards are handed out, and all of the funds raised go directly to those charities that night.

This year, Fort George will generously add donations to the charities of the top three fundraisers – matching up to $10,000 for first place, up to $5,000 for second place, and up to $1000 for third. And of course, the most ambitious fundraiser of them all will hoist the Magnanimous Mug for 2018. This custom laser-etched mug entitles the holder to all of the benefits of a Fort George Mug Club member for one year, and earns you a hearty round of applause from the entire community.

The Magnanimous Mug will be awarded on Benefit Night, Tuesday, November 28th at 8pm. Join all of the participants, and the representatives of their charities, starting at 4:30pm in the upstairs pizzeria. Benefit Night is held the last Tuesday of every month, raising pints and funds for local nonprofits.

Nominate those magnanimous community members from November 1st through the 8th by going to fortgeorgebrewery.com/magnanimousmug. There are no limits on numbers of nominees or participants. Each person vying for the Magnanimous Mug selects a charity of their choice and must be present at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, November 28th, 2017 to win. Some restrictions may apply.

Last year more than $64,000 was raised for local nonprofits at the Magnanimous Mug Award. This year, with the support of this magnanimous community, that number will only continue to grow.

Topaz Farm and Fort George come together for the second year to improve our communities and our beer.
