Nature Matters returns in the new year with a presentation by Ed. Joyce who will share a presentation on the major geologic features of the Oregon coast by addressing plate tectonics and coastal geologic processes. Coastal geomorphology and oceanography will be explored by looking at the oceanographic impacts on beach geometry, sediment transport, and wave and beach dynamics. The role of beach stabilization efforts will also be addressed. The talk will conclude with an overview of the Columbia River Estuary focusing on the interactions between the estuary and the open ocean, the impact of logging, flood plain removal, and the role of upriver dams on the health of the estuary.
Doors to the Lovell Showroom open at 6pm with food and beverages available via the Taproom window, talk starts at 7pm. All ages welcome and never a cover.
