Local author and environmentalist, Rand Schenck, will present and discuss his new book, “Forest Under Siege: The Story of Old Growth After Gifford Pinchot” published by Basalt Books at WSU Press.
Through the lens of forestry practices on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Schenck explores a century of forest management in the Pacific Northwest. From early stewardship through an era of relentless logging, and ultimately toward the recovery and rebirth of old-growth forests, his work provides a visceral account of the challenges and triumphs in conserving these irreplaceable ecosystems. The presentation will be followed by a book signing.
Doors open at 6pm with food and beverages available via the Taproom window, talk starts at 7pm. All ages welcome and never a cover.
