Executive Director of Oregon Black Pioneers Zachary Stocks will present “Lost Monuments of the Northwest.”
Lost Monuments explores the monuments erected as part of the Great Northern Railway’s historical tours of the Northwest in 1925 and 1926. While our own Astoria Column is the most celebrated of these, there were six other official monuments, another five community-based monuments, two flagpoles, and a fence included in the celebrations that accompanied the railroad tours.
Zachary Stocks is a public historian and the Executive Director of Oregon Black Pioneers. Zachary previously served as Program Director of Historical Seaport and Visitor Services Manager of Northwest African American Museum. He is a former Colonial Williamsburg and Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History intern and a former seasonal Park Ranger at Lewis & Clark National Historical Park. He holds a BA in History from the College of William & Mary with a certificate in Public History from the National Institute for American History and Democracy, and an MA in Museology from the University of Washington.
Doors to the Lovell Showroom open at 6pm with food and beverages available via the Taproom window, talk starts at 7pm. All ages welcome and never a cover.
