TNT: Musical Stairs at the Astoria Column

In September of 2024, the Friends of the Astoria Column presented Musical Stairs: A Harmonious Night Under the Stars. A musical journey that weaves through time and space, guided by the pictorial timeline adorning the Astoria Column’s exterior, the concert idea started with local Astorian Jeff Daly recalling how he spent his childhood always on a bicycle, finding a place to play and explore. Nearly every day, he would visit the Astoria Column. He and his friends would peddle their bikes 600 feet above the Columbia River to the top of Coxcomb Hill and race to the Column’s door to be the first to announce their arrival with their version of “Marco-Polo” personalized with a local angle of “Lewis-Clark.” Laughing joyfully, they would race the 164 steps to reach the top and throw paper planes.

Doors open at 6pm with food and beverages available via the Taproom window, talk starts at 7pm. All ages welcome and never a cover.
