Fort George Birthday Bash 3/13

This Sunday is Fort George’s 4th birthday! Come out and celebrate all day with hourly raffles, a special Fort George birthday cake, re-release of North IV, and music by the Swaggers.

The Swaggers 3/13 8pm

The Swaggers formed in Astoria, Oregon in the late 1990’s. Bassist Frank Peper and singer/guitarist Chris Corbell first worked together in a tribute to Woody Guthrie at the Netel Grange. After recruiting drummer Jeff Carden the band began to play in local venues and write original songs that combined a rockabilly dance feel with their diverse americana influences. The band also covered a lot of well-known and lesser-known classic tunes ranging from Johnny Cash to John Lee Hooker. The Swaggers released a full-length, self-produced album Rockarama in 1999 and went on to play regularly in Portland for a few years, sharing the stage with many other rockabilly, honky-tonk and swing bands along the way. The guys have been working on new tunes and plan to release their first digital single online in early 2011. And they’re looking forward to more rockin’ good times!
