In early January, the team from the famed Bottleworks bottle shop and taproom in Seattle took a trip down to Astoria to pull some nails from the barrels and taste through a variety of decadent beers. After circling around the sample glasses for a while, we all concocted different blends until the best one revealed itself. The end result is a rich, silky stout blend full of toasted nuts, dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, dried dark fruit, and oak. Named as an homage to our eight-legged house Cavatica Stout, Reclusa is the Latin name for the Brown Recluse spider.
In collaboration with Bottleworks for their 19th Anniversary, Reclusa is a blend of stout and English barleywine pulled from a combination of Four Roses, Bull Run Bourbon, House Spirits Westward Whiskey, and Adelsheim Pinot Noir barrels. It is available at Bottleworks in Seattle and in the Lovell Taproom – draft and 500ml Sweet Virginia Series bottles to go starting at noon today. One case limit per customer at the brewery.
