North & South in Dialogue: The Women of the Civil War

Guest Speaker: Join local Astoria author Marianne Monson in conversation about the process for writing Women of the Blue & Gray, including her research trip through The South and the relevance of the project in today’s political climate.

Bio: Marianne Monson is the author of eleven books for children and adults with an emphasis on women’s history. Her book Frontier Grit, released in 2016, was nominated for an Amelia Bloomer award by the American Library Association. Marianne holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and teaches at CCC. When she moved to Astoria in 2017, she felt for the first time she was truly home.

Doors to the Lovell Showroom will open at 6pm. Arrive early, seating is limited. Food and beverages are available through the Taproom. All ages are welcome and never a cover. Ales & Ideas is brought to you the first week of every month by Clatsop Community College.
