Festival of Dark Arts is an undertaking of Fort George Brewery & Public House. At Fort George our employees, vendors, and customers are asked to contribute to our spaces and relationships in ways that protect dignity, decency, and safety. Respect and integrity are expected and actions which cause someone to feel unsafe, disrespected, devalued, or demeaned are not acceptable at Fort George.

We’re committed at every level to fostering an environment free of these behaviors for our teams, our colleagues, our vendors, our customers, and our industry peers.

We have taken many steps to ensure the safety and comfort of our festival attendees and staff. During Festival of Dark Arts we work closely with trained security personnel, the Astoria Police Department, and our own HR Team to assure that our standards continue to be met.

Fort George does not tolerate harassment, bullying or discrimination in any form.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments that can be interpreted as aggression towards or related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or age.
  • Intimidation, stalking or following
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Sustained disruption of programming
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Unwelcome sexual attention

Attendees asked to stop harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If an attendee engages in harassing behavior, event organizers retain the right to take any action necessary, including expulsion from the festival with no refund.

Reporting Harassment

We take these policies very seriously and encourage anyone witnessing or experiencing conduct that violates these standards to report their concerns to a member of staff or security personnel immediately. You will find a Fort George employee stationed at every pouring location, at the Welcome Tent, and in the Merch Room at all times. Security personnel can be identified by their vests and ID badges and will be dispersed through the festival grounds. Many of our festival staff are volunteers. If you need assistance or are in an unsafe situation any member of staff can direct you to an employee. All employees and volunteers have received instructions for the immediate conveyance of reports of unsafe or inappropriate conduct to the festival organizers.

If you would like to reach out directly to our HR Team regarding this policy, an incident you witnessed or experienced, or any aspect of the festival, please email Zack at beer@fortgeorgebrewery.com.

By registering for this event, you agree to comply with our policies.
